Hi, I’m Philipp (25), a filmmaker and journalist from Germany. I love personal, emotionally stirring films with strong characters that address a social problem and leave the audience with a message at the end. With my latest project “Short-term Sister”, I won “Postgraduate Best Editing” and “Best Writing” at the RTS Student Television Awards 2021 and was nominated for the “Axel-Springer-Preis for young journalism” 2022.
For me, film is teamwork and thrives on exchange – so feel free to contact me if you have any ideas, suggestions, critique or if you would like to propose a collaboration. I look forward to hearing from you!
what I do
Philipp himself embarks on a search for his missing foster sister and confronts his family and himself with the trauma of loss – in the hope of reconciling with the past.
A fashion student explores the lack of disability representation within the fashion industry – confronting activists, icons and educators.
jordan - country of refugees.
Jordan is one of the countries that have taken in the most refugees worldwide. This documentary accompanies five refugees as they become involved in the community in which they now live – not as those seeking help, but as helpers themselves.
a special neighbour - katla.
Aron needs to be prepared all the time. He works as a local fireman in the Icelandic town of Vik which is located next to the massive volcano Katla covered by a glacier. Normally, Katla erupts twice per century. The problem: It hasn’t for the last 100 years.
My future projects will be created under the umbrella of my own production company “OnPoint Storytelling”, which is currently being set up. Co-founder is journalist and filmmaker friend Olivia Samnick. At “OnPoint” we not only attach importance to high-quality content that is “to the point”, but also to a value-driven production process: our films should be as sustainable, diverse and collaborative with the protagonists as possible. To this end, we are currently working on a corresponding catalogue of values and rules, which we want to develop together with academics and industry experts. Stay tuned!
