Philipp Lippert
Filmmaker & Journalist
Even as a child, it was clear that I would do something with media at some point. As a six-year-old, I made up plays and performed them for my parents and relatives. Later, as a teenager, I used the summer holidays to produce fictional short films with friends. With one of the films, we even made it to the finals of the regional German-French youth film competition “Créajeune”. Already back then, I was so enthusiastic about good stories that I started my own village newspaper as a 12-year-old and produced it myself for three years with the help of my father.
So it was almost logical that I started studying journalism at the Technical University of Dortmund after graduating from high school. At that time, I was fascinated by the medium of radio, which is why I later completed a one-year traineeship at a local radio station. During my semester abroad at the Danish School for Media and Journalism, however, I rediscovered my love for film – and it continues to this day. For my Master’s degree, I left Germany for London to study “Documentary Filmmaking” at Goldsmiths University of London. After an additional year in England, I am now back in Germany for the time being and, after “Short-term Sister”, I am now working towards my own production company and further projects.
